The STROKEMETER is a superior and convenient way to control pile driving energy by monitoring the impact rate of open-end diesel hammers and estimating the height of fall (stroke) of the ram.

The current design of the Strokemeter includes hardware that would identify piston impacts acoustically via a miniature microphone mounted on the side of the housing, calculate the time between consecutive impacts, apply the equations of motion to estimate a height of fall in both English and SI units, and output the impact rate (BPM, blows per minute) and the height of fall in both units via three on-board digital displays.

The Strokemeter is designed with the least possible number of controls, with no input required from the user. Three control buttons are included in the current design: one control button for activating/deactivating the device, and two more buttons to increase and decrease the sensitivity of the microphone in order to prevent ambient noise on the construction site from affecting the device’s operation.
