Dynamic testing is a versatile test for pile capacity, performance of the driving system, and pile integrity. Briefly, the method consists of attaching electronic sensors to the pile head (strain and acceleration transducers) to record the pile response to the impact of the driving hammer. The collected information is immediately received and analyzed by the Pile Driving Analyzer (PDA) to evaluate the pile capacity, the pile integrity, and the energy input by the driving system.  Further details on dynamic testing can be found in ASTM Standard D4945.

Key Benefits

  • Inexpensive and Fast
  • Detects the extent and location of pile damage
  • Easily performed in situations where static testing is prohibitively expensive or physically impossible
  • Allows representative sampling across the site within a short timeframe
  • Provides optimized driving criteria with potentially substantial savings in time and cost
  • Monitors the performance of the driving system and evaluates driving stresses
  • Adapted to harsh conditions
